TEHRAN-The Iranian short animation “Piano” directed by Marjan Keshani and Shahab Shamsi won an award at the 5th Human Environment Care (HECare) Film Festival in Canada.

The short flick received the best animated short film award at this year’s edition of the festival, which was held in Ontario from September 26 to 30, ILNA reported.

A production of the Documentary, Experimental, and Animation Film Center, “Piano” is a seven-minute animation that explores the themes of poverty and the hardship of life. It tells the story of someone who dreams of buying a Piano but their dream is shattered when a war erupts, leaving them struggling to acquire even the most basic necessities of life.

Iranian filmmaker Asghar Abbasi was on the jury panel of the festival. Abbasi, 44, is a short film director, writer and producer. He has a master's degree in cinema. He has made more than 20 short and documentary films and received numerous awards from various festivals.

HECare Film Festival is Canada's premier cultural event devoted exclusively to the exploration of human-environment care, human rights issues, and environment protection through films.

The festival aims to advance and encourage debate and awareness of human-environment care, human rights issues, and environmental issues amongst a broader community through creative media. It also showcases and supports Canadian and international artists concerned with human-environment care, human rights, and environment issues.
